What's happening around the Discovery Coast, keep up to date with Queensland's Discovery Coast, as locals and groups add their local articles, events and more, all community groups on the Discovery Coast are invited to get their community group involved with Go Local Direct.

 

The Queensland, Discovery Coast includes Agnes Water, Town of 1770, Baffle Creek, Captain Creek, Turkey Beach, with more to be added.

 

1770 Festival fever hits the Discovery Coast

Rain and storms have not put a dampener on preparations for the 2013 Captain cook 1770 Festival. Some planning for this year's festival may have changed, but the event itself is still on track for 25 and 26 May, 2013, said organising committee president Cheryl Wickes.

Turtle Monitoring On The Discovery Coast Update

The first loggerhead turtles nest emerged during the night of 11 January, followed by the next night with a flat back turtle nest. Of the 142 eggs laid by the Loggerhead turtle 136 hatchlings made it to the water while one other live baby was caught in the nest on grass roots and subsequently rescued by the volunteers. The remainder were on developed unhatched eggs

Bendigo bank has launched the Discovery Coast flood appeal to help regions flood affected residents. The appeal was initiated by Agnes Water/1770 Community Bank Branch which is already received support from the local Lions Club with $1000 in donations.
